At the Chinese garden at night. The lights come from the other side and it was smokey there. If the buildings weren't there, this would make a very pretty picture.

I actually like the building in the background, gives more of a realistic tilt to the photo......... a sanctuary in the midst of a bustling city feeling........... yeah.

I completely agree with kyllaen on this one. I think the buildings really add a certain depth to the composition and adds a certain mystery to the setting.

It's almost as if this garden, this pond exists outside of time.

I think it's perfect exactly as it is.
I think this is a very nice shot. I must admit, I agree with you that it would be better without the buildings. Actually, I think that a smaller scale makes a big difference. In the normal view, the buildings just look like glowing white palaces or something. In the large view you can see them too well and I found that the slant of the far shore to be much more disturbing (mostly because I couldn't fit the whole image on the screen at once, so the ground on the left hand side couldn't be seen to anchor it).
OMG !!!!! :faint:

I love this picture. It has such a calmness to it. The colours, too, are spectacular. I do think the size detracts from the impact, and the un-level horizon. Would you mind if I played around with it, and sent you the results? :)

The lighting here is amazing, especially how the light is reflected on the water. :wow:

I like the original of the two much more, though I do wish the buildings were gone!!! I think the original one is just as mysterious, the colors are softer and more pleasant
